Back To Black

This session was all about dark tones. Black became one of my favorite colors (tone for all the technical people) last year and it still heavily influences my personal aesthetic. Plus I've been a long time fan of the punk/goth aesthetic as well so I wanted to try play around with that style as the theme. I worked with Jasmine (my favorite go-to muse) again for this shoot. She's one of the few people who trusts me enough to let me paint their face or come lie on my dirty floor for the sake of art. This was a totally different look from her everyday look but she's a chameleon and can pull off pretty much anything (well at least with my help). As for the technical stuff, we keep the lighting pretty standard and didn't use any crazy props so it was one of our typical studio shoots. In the end we just played around and tried out some new stuff.

Playing In The Park

Headed back to a familiar place for this shoot, Overton Park. This was one of the handful of times I shot outside during the last month & a 1/2 (due to the fact that it's usually 4,273° outside). My subject this time around was Reva, a super awesome lady I work with. We met up at 7 in the evening thinking the temp would be cooler. Well instead of it being 4,273° it was closer to 2,732° (which is still too freakin' hot). Plan A was to shoot some stuff in the forest but the humidity made me scratch that idea. Plan B was to head to the shaded area over by the museum but unbeknownst to me there was a concert going on around the corner and there was nowhere to park. So went settled on Plan C which was the playground. Here's a general rule for taking pictures at a playground as a dude; make sure you have a pretty girl with you so you don't get the cops called on you. When we actually started it just turned into playtime. You know just a couple of 6ft tall adults in their mid 20's running around & climbing up stuff. We all know I'm mean looking and don't like children, but apparently all the women I hang out with do. So as usual, Reva attracted a flock of kids at one point. So even wing(wo)maned for this little blonde kid that was playing with another little girl. Let take the time to reiterate how hot it was. I had to break out the sweat rag after like 15 minutes. If she decided to actually wear make-up we probably would have had a disaster on our hands but we dodged that bullet. It was super fun and we ended up not melting so it was successful day.

First Blog/Fitness Shoot

So this officially is my first blog ever. (insert cheering & applause) I planned out this set with my co-worker/friend Leandro. Well really there wasn't much planning involved because I had an opening pop up and I hit him up two days beforehand. Anyway we decided to meet up downtown by the river.  So when I got there Leo introduced me to his friend Sebastian and the three of us went off to do our thing. It was super fun/easy shoot for me. The guys were super stoked to have a camera guy tag along and were brimming with ideas, so I didn't have to do any real directing and just let them do their thing. Pokemon Go was still new that weekend, so not only was the park full of 20 year olds roaming around on their phones, Leo & I got into it as well much to Sebastian's contempt. So when we weren't distracted trying to capture Poliwhirls & various psychic pokemon we were moving around getting some cool images in a variety of backgrounds. In terms of the photos, everything come out pretty dope. We got some action shots, some duet stuff, and the obligatory sexy, flexy posed shots. Before we knew it an hour & a 1/2 had passed and the sun was setting, but we managed to get some epic silhouette shots against the orange sky.
